Hey there! Not sure if you realized this, but we are 8 weeks away from Christmas (at the time of writing of course) and I just KNOW that you might be a little worried about how to keep on the holiday season weight loss “wagon” or how to even start losing some weight over the upcoming months (You know New Years Resolutions). A little birdie tells me you might even be feeling like you should just put it off until next year?
Well… fear not!
Your day is saved!
Well ok, maybe not the day. But we have scratched our collective heads and come up with this list of easy ways to start & maintain your weight loss over this holiday season.
Holiday Season Weight loss Tip #1:
Give yourself some realistic goals
Before we jump into all the quick tips, I want you to remember something – it IS the holiday season after all, and this means spending time with your loved ones and enjoying some really delicious food (Aunt Marys famous homemade cheesecake 🙂
Just please, be kind to yourself! Give yourself realistic goals. Your weight loss may slow a little over this time, but it’s ok. Just tell yourself “look – as long as I lose just 1 pound this week – I’ve still won.”
Your mindset is THE most important aspect of your weight loss journey. I believe that so much I made an entire program about it!
All I want you to do is just be realistic and maintain the self-discipline and motivation to keep going each week, you will be amazed with your results!

Holiday Season Weight loss Tip #2:
Water is your best friend
Here is the deal, I’m sure you have heard a bajillion times that you should start drinking water. Well it’s true, you really should! You are pretty much built out of water and it just does amazing things for your skin and digestive system. Just remember this when it comes to what water does for your body: Water carries all the nutrients to your cells + carries all the bad stuff (toxins that make us store fat) out of your body!
Did you know that by drinking a glass of water BEFORE a meal is an easy way to trick your body from overeating?
Just a big ole glass of water before a meal is going to help make you feel fuller (not to mention, give you a nice little energy boost) and stop you from eating that second serving of mom’s mashed potatoes.
See – Simple
Holiday Season Weight loss Tip #3:
Look, I KNOW how amazing mom’s mashed potato and gravy is. Hey – I eat it too! And I am not going to say something unrealistic like “skip the good stuff, say no to desert”, those things are just unrealistic and takes away from the simple joy of getting together with your family and eating a nice meal.
What we suggest is that when you combine drinking water before a meal with limiting the amount you serve yourself each meal, you will stop yourself from overeating. Don’t pile you plate sky high, just take a little bit. Go-on have some delicious turkey – just take it easy.
If you are feeling hungry – great! Focus on eating things like:
- Turkey, Chicken and Meats (lots of protein rich meats basically).
- Colorful vegetables (nonwhite veggies).
- Beans, Peas and Legumes (again, a good source of protein).
- Eat that mash + gravy – just not too much 😛
- Practice the 3 bite rule (Just 3 bites). You will be surprised how satisfied you will feel after.
Holiday Season Weight loss Tip #4:
Get that body moving
Ok so this is a quick little hack that you can use every day, not just over the holidays: Get moving between meals!
Just had a big dinner and feeling full?
Put those shoes on and step outside for a walk. A 10-20-minute walk will help your body to fire up it’s digestion (so you don’t feel as bloated) and kick-start the fat burning cycle once more. Just grab a family member, bundle up (if you are in a cold climate like me) and do a quick paced 10 minute walk. Also a good time to escape and collect yourself, if you know what I mean!
One of my favorite things about going for a family walk is that it actually put’s us all in a better mood. When you go out for a walk/run or exercise all the cool little endorphins start being produced by your body. These are the same little things that help you feel happy!
Don’t want to walk? Wii Fit or Just Dance work to… Quick story: My Grandpa used to bowl. Well now in his old age he doesn’t. You should have seen his face when I bowled with him for the first time on Wii Fit! It absolutely made his (and my) day!

Holiday Season Weight loss Tip #5:
You ARE Strong -> So BE Strong
Yep – It’s going to be hard over this holiday season – I get it. It’s easy for me to give you advice, but it is you that has to be disciplined enough to put it in action!. I want you to know that you CAN do it, you don’t have to put off your weight loss goals until after the holiday season because you are an amazing and capable person who can start working on your goals NOW!
Just Remember This…
Keep your eye on the prize. Before you take a bite or hit the snooze instead of doing your workout, remember your goals. It’s going to take work to get there and survive the holiday season. Before you act, ask yourself, “Will this help me get where I want to go?” If not, make another decision. And remember that YOU are in control during the holidays, not the other way around. Please share this with someone and and make this your healthiest and happiest holiday season yet!
My name is Danielle. I am a mom, author, weight loss coach and creator of the “Diamond Body Image Process™.
I work with strong and determined women with busy lives, who’ve let themselves go for years due to work or taking care of their family. And because of this they are struggling with…
– Standing on your bathroom scale and seeing you are at your highest weight ever so you’ve decided to lose the weight but you don’t know HOW.
– The shame of being overweight is holding you back from being in family photos or videos
– Feel frustrated, fat and uncomfortable because your pants are too tight.
– Feeling embarrassed to be naked in front of your husband and causing you to not be intimate with him yet you want to build a strong bond for a lasting relationship.
And secretly they feel ashamed and embarrassed about their weight. And if they were really honest they would say even though they look happy on the outside, on the inside they feel like a big fat failure and lack the confidence they once had.
For these women, I provide a safe, caring environment for them to be completely honest and open their feelings and fears. I empower them to stop making excuses and blaming their circumstances for being overweight, and instead take personal responsibility for their weight loss, so they can achieve their ideal weight, feel more confident and energized and be their best version of themselves.
I teach my clients simple ways to change their eating habits, exercise habits and transform their mindset through my Diamond Body Image Process™ for long lasting weight loss.
My caring, direct and motivational coaching style inspires women to take action and become the best version of themselves. I teach weight loss from my personal experience.
