Have you ever tried a workout at home? I love working out at home. However this seems to be a subject that is much debated. Let me first of start by saying working out doesn’t need to be expensive, stress you out or require you to spend extra time driving somewhere to do it!


Home workouts can be just as effective as a gym workout, especially for a weight loss goal!


When I was starting my weight loss journey I thought to get in an effective workout I had to join a gym. Because at the time I was recently divorced and now a single mom that was working her ass off to make ends meet, getting up earlier to get ready to go to the gym wasn’t working out for me.


Plus, I have to add that I was quite intimidated. I had no clue what to do or how to use the equipment, I felt ‘dumb.’ All those skinny, fit chicks knew what to do and how to do it and then there was me!

Now, 100 pounds down, I still workout at home and only home. I competed in a fitness competition in 2015 and trained solely at home. Yes, to do that you do need equipment.

 However if you are just trying to lose weight, working out at home should be your number one choice!

You’re probably asking yourself, how do I actually do it? Well here are some easy and fun workouts that you can do in 30 minutes or less!

​Dance...

Put on some music, grab your kids, your sweetie, or none of the above and groove for at 15-30 minutes. If your neighbors see you in the window, give them a few tips about the benefits of easy exercise and invite them to join you.

​Pool...

If you experience pain if you walk or run, try pool running. Once you’rein the water you simply walk without letting your feet touch the bottom of thepool. You can also run in place by bouncing off your tips toes.

​​Walk...

Walk slowly for five minutes and then alternate between fast walk and slow walk with a 5 minute cool down. Do this for 20-30 minutes and you will notice just how this will help you lose weight.

​​Bike...

Get on your bike (this is good if you have knee pain). Ride with alternating resistance and speeds. Don’t be afraid of the hills!

​Go Old school...

​​Remember the days when you were in gym class? Jumping jacks, pushups (yes you can modify these by doing them on your knees), hop scotch, jump rope? These are all very effective workouts that you can form a circuit of and repeat 3-4 times to burn a ton of calorie

​HIIT Train...

This takes your heart rate up and then back down. This is a very effective way to maximize your workout time. is a technique in which you give all-out, one hundred and fifty percent effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short, recovery periods. This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time.

Example of HIIT training moves:
High Knees (20 sec) Rest (20 sec) Jumping Jacks (20 sec) Rest (20 sec)

​Strength Training...

Strength training. You can use anything you have around the house for your weight. keeps your muscles toned. To become stronger, your muscles need to work against some kind of resistance. This causes them to contract. The more they work by contracting, the stronger you get.

Here are some different options to use when strength training: Free Weights- hand weights, bar bells.

is a Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, it includes breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, it is widely used for health and relaxation.

​​Body weight...

No weights? No problem. You can use your own body to tone up.You can do body weight squats, calk raises, modified pushups, bicep curls andmore. Just focus on squeezing whatever muscle group you are working on.
